As far as I can see the New Testament is egalitarian when speaking about the universal church and only restrictive in specific situations.

I don't see this as an issue of sufficient importance that we need to insist on a specific policy (such as the restriction of women in the office of elder/presbyter) if it prevents the effective communication of the gospel.Ian Matthewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16777033213615262701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6343163817426504212.post-85716917199524730872007-07-23T10:00:00.000+01:002007-07-23T10:00:00.000+01:00Good points raised. It is amazing what some people seem to think it justifies.

Some of my friends say "I couldn't be in your Church because you don't have female elders". Then I ask them about their Church and there are more women released into senior positions of leadership in my Church than there are in their Church, and they have a male "senior pastor".Blue, with a hint of amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17689914726284208496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6343163817426504212.post-35504837999789581982007-07-20T21:02:00.000+01:002007-07-20T21:02:00.000+01:00We can't win! I'm a woman who has complimentarian views but have certainly experienced male chauvinism in this segment of the church. It isn't dead! Sometimes it bothers me that so much focus goes toward banishing feminism but not the chauvinism, but that's neither here nor there as they say...doesn't change what Scripture teaches.julhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15688008902332240637noreply@blogger.com
