Generous living means generous giving

On Sunday I preached on giving as part of our 'generous' series (you can see the powerpoint here)

What struck me is that I've lost a little bit of the joy of giving and need to find a new giving adventure. I need to make it fun again. But we need to go beyond tithing to find generosity because you can't budget that.

I need a new car.

Ok if we're going to make that idea fun...you might not want the car I'd choose!

Now I am curious!

What car would you choose for me? I need a car that will fit a baby in with all her associated rubbish.

You see a car that meets that need sounds very dull and not fun at all. I'd choose link a pink smart car, because that'd be funny for everyone else...

Well I presume you would buy me this car because you want to be more like the baby jesus? in which case you wont mind when I immediately sell the car, pocket the cash and buy something better.

I look forward to its arrival...

Hey,

like the thoughts - I have at times been wary of preaching on generosity (esp as a Church Plant) but have just started to do so.

If we don't establish it in our lives and churches how are we going to truly reflect the ultimate in generosity - God himself who so loved that he gave.

Love your thoughts - and the Google Docs thing for the slides on the net.

4 Life,

Josh

Hi Josh
Thanks for your comment, and every blessing in your church plant. I can only encourage that to urge your people to be generous in time, money, effort in loving God and loving people is to follow the heart of the Father, who as you said gave so richly to us. I believe it will be a huge blessing in your Life in the City. I'd love to hear how that works out and goes. Thanks again for your encouragement and being in touch.
