Today Gordon Brown promised that the government would be a
rock of stability on which the British people can depend. Hmm. 1 Tim 6:17 is pretty clear that putting our trust in wealth or those who promise us wealth is an uncertain thing. Instead there is only one rock in which we should trust (Deut 32:4 for example).
Not surprisingly many of the blogs I read are commenting on the whole global financial crisis, here are some links:
- Matt Hosier has picked up his series on money again, parts 10, 11, 12 & 13
- Rob Mason wonders whether you can rescue something based on greed
- Scott Taylor has chosen not to worry
- Tim Challies pointed me to this article on how we lost money that has never existed
- Cranmer likens this to the golden calf
- Jeremy @ Make Wealth History certainly has an apt blog name but also some great posts on money, like this on our failure of imagination
- Josh Harris offers Biblical truth on the crisis
There is of course tonnes more and you can read endlessly about this, but if you're used to living on less in order to live more then these coming days should hold little to fear. Trust in Jesus is a great antidote to fear. I spent a weekend with 8 others in Oxford discussing the issues that surround us and our network for simpler living,
Breathe. I'll feed back soon because it provided masses to think about.

I found Matthew 6 useful (found it whilst preparing an unrelated piece of work for our Youth Group!)
