How to dissect Generosity

I'm still thinking around the whole issue of generosity (other things swilling around at the moment are discipleship and community) and so I'm looking around and I usually start my search at Wikipedia and the results are thoroughly uninspiring. The one redeeming comment was :

"Generosity is not solely based on one's economic status, but instead, includes the individual's pure intentions of looking out for society's common good and giving from the heart.Generosity should reflect the individual's passion to help others."

Anyone can be generous and generosity flows from the heart. Most of us are moved at times of great need, the truly generous don't wait for tragedy to happen.
