Stuff lust

I read this on the BBC news magazine and just couldn't NOT post about it. It even asks the question: "Are these people shoppers or are they worshippers?" I feel like a prophet.

This article was sparked by the launch of the iPhone (blogged about here, here and here) and wonders what is all the fuss about? "It's about desire, these aren't things we need at all - but we all fall for it," says Tom Wiggins of gadget magazine, Stuff. Yes indeed. 

But as you read the responses many think a 'lust for stuff' is fine...no connection with climate change, no sense of decline in community cohesion, nothing. Pretty depressing really. Who'd be a prophet?
